Opening the night is producer and DJ Daniel Martin-McCormick aka Relaxer (fka Ital), who daredevils behind the decks and in the studio, melding disparate pieces to hypnotic effect. In his production, his brazen disregard for coloring inside the lines, taping punk and noise elements into melodic ambience, earned attention and releases on the likes of Planet Mu, Climate of Fear and Avenue 66. No less fierce in the DJ both, his sets see strands of minimal techno, noise, UK hardcore and fractured ambient come together in a beautiful haze of spatial deleriurm. To headline, we welcome Lisbon’s Nídia (fka Nidia Minaj), a spearhead of the cutting-edge record label Principe Discos and fervent trailblazer of the Afro-Portuguese club sound and the experiences that shape it. Taking from the wide variety of genres that marked her musical and personal growth, from batida, angolan styles and derivatives like kuduro, kizomba and taraxxo, to techno house and afrobeats, Nídia fiercely shows her maturity and impressive potential stating all that she’s capable of doing. Equally fond of the space outside the lines, Nídia is barefaced in her approach to the decks, swapping rhythms and tempos in whirlwind blends sure to cause you whiplash.
