A New York champion and an unsound UK hero take the house tonight. A man who has become synonymous with New York’s house and disco scene, Eli Escobar, opens the night. A man who has been a familiar face on the city’s scene for the last two decades, Escobar has the city’s heartbeat thundering through him straight to the decks. Whether tearing it up at clubs across the capital (and beyond) or throwing down super-charged disco bombs on labels like Nervous, Strictly Rhythm, & Classic, Escobar rarely steps out of his four-four beat. Headlining the night is Luke Solomon, the London-based DJ/producer considered by many as a seminal force in the UK underground. Since getting his start in Universtiy, Solomon has released countless records of house music that is reverential to its roots as much as it is influenced by the stylings of disco, post-punk, and jazz. Likewise he co-founded not one, but two labels; Classic, which he runs with Derreck Carter, and Music for Freaks. Over the course of his illustrious career he’s worked with labels like Ministry of Sound, Rekids, Strictly Rhythm, and Optimo Trax, remixed for the Streets and the Human League, and played clubs the world over.
