Two forward-thinking labels from around the world take over all three rooms at Public Records tonight.

Animalia is the project of Australia’s Kia. Described as playful and lighthearted, Animalia [Kia too] serves as a platform for lesser-known “bush techno” producers in Melbourne. The niche and undeniably catchy sound combines elements of tech house, trance, and IDM and subverts them into something new and deep. Kia’s quick rise and attuned ear have landed her appearances at Dekmantel, Sustain-Release, Monument, and other internationally-regarded festivals with no slowing down in sight.

Label affiliate Reptant makes his US debut. Since 2016, his productions have spread across the world via labels Kalahari Oyster Cult, Warning, Die Orakel, Planet Euphorique, Salt Mines, Craigie Knowes, and X-Kalay, to name a few. The breakbeat-driven acid and sleek, minimal electro consistent in both his productions and live sets are irresistably sexy and immersive. This is not one to miss.

Priori is co-head of Montreal’s naff recordings. He is also one half of DJ-producer duo Jump Source with long-time friend Patrick Holland. The label’s wide-ranging scope — techno, IDM, trance, experimental rap, and beyond — is unified by a drive for creative exploration and technological curiosity through new forms of thoughtful expression. As Jump Source, Priori’s and Holland’s productions and DJ sets delve into deep house, dub-wise, and ambient techno.

UPSTAIRS, Mood Hut’s CZ Wang spins all things leftfield, slippery, and psychedelic. With a spot in Sustain-Releases’s Planet Euphorique showcase last year, a residency at Eavesdrop, and plays at local gems The Level Party and Mansions, Chris is a natural fit for this boundary-pushing lineup.
