This Friday 9.30, Andrew Devlin goes head to head with Louise Chen in The Sound Room. The New York City native is the mind behind Brooklyn’s Level Party, a series that spotlights the myriad of djs and musicians shaping the sound of the city. Lineups have featured artists like Galcher Lustwerk, Aurora Hala, Mike Simonetti + many more, for parties that span rnb-infused house, techno, deconstructed beats and everything in between. Ahead of his opening set in The Sound Room, we asked Andrew to send over his five essential tracks of the moment.

Pharoah Sanders – Harvest Time

I don’t even own this record, but I cue this up on Youtube at least once every month, even more often in the Fall. One of the most beautiful recordings I’ve heard. R.I.P. Pharoah.

Prozak – Spinning Out

This one’s been doing it for me lately, just a really fun peaktime jam that has kind of a Y2K movie soundtrack feeling.

Cousin – Locked

Amelia @ Public Records actually put me up on Cousin a few months ago, and I’ve been hooked since. I love his underwater club world and try to go there any time I can.

Beck – Loser [Live @ BBC Sessions]

I promise I won’t play Beck again on Friday. But if one person watches this video, I’m happy. Look at this guy shred on the slide guitar and stretch this track out. Love the weird electronics at the end, too. Your favorite Bushwick noise artist could never.

Jack J – Closing the Door

Loved this whole Jack J album. This is probably my track of the year? At least the one I’ve come back to most. Immaculate vibes, as they say.
